The NGK SILMAR9A9S Iridium Laser spark plug was developed to offer excellent performance and is often a real upgrade over the original spark plug.
This spark plug features a center electrode with an iridium alloy filler welded by a special laser process.
The main characteristics of iridium are in fact hardness (superior to other precious metals), resistance to chemicals and an extremely high melting point (over 2450 degrees centigrade), which makes the spark plug very resistant to the erosive action of sparks.
These features ensure that the spark plug's service life is on average twice as long as that of the conventional spark plug with nickel electrodes.
